Every Christmas season, my friends & I count down the days ’til the Goodwyn family Christmas party…amazingly delicious food, gorgeous & festive decorations & wonderful company make this event a highlight of the holidays!  I spotted 2 good friends sporting fabulous ensembles & I couldn’t resist snapping a few pictures in front of the illuminated tree.

Who: Glenn Halcomb, student at U. of Alabama & Bea Fowlkes, teacher in Athens, GA

What: Bea always wears an amazing mix of eclectic pieces & this look is no exception!  Her green top is Old Navy which she threw a vintage Ralph Lauren sweater vest over, complemented by the fabulous Free People black tiered & ruffled mini skirt.  Lastly she accessorized her outfit with gray opaque Donna Karan tights & Old Navy peep toe heels.

If Glenn lived in NYC, The Sartorialist would constantly be vying to photograph him as he always looks so on trend while maintaining his own personal style.  His navy blue scarf is from Zara & his vest is Urban Renewal, both which perfectly accent his chambray H&M button down.  His high-waisted skinny khakis are BDG.  And lastly his shoes are Mocs from Lands End.

Who: Jen Rotenstreich, freelance stylist extraordinaire!

Where: Styling the informal modeling at the Birmingham Magazine ‘Best Doctors in Birmingham’ party at Park Lane

What: Jen’s tonal gray look is accented with her on trend statement coat, all in all the perfect holiday party outfit!  Her dress is European culture, boots are Apepazza & the amazing leopard faux fur coat is Forever Twentyone.  I adore her use of accessories, particularly the heather gray textured tights that create a beautiful line between her fabulous tall boots and her spliced dress.  Add a few silver cuffs et volia!

Lucy Southern Femme of the Week

Who: Lucy, a graphic designer & artist (she designed my Southern Femme logo)

What: She is wearing an H&M shrunken blazer, an American Apparel t-shirt, Levi’s jeans, a Gap belt & Vialis booties from Barcelona.

Why: It can be challenging pulling off menswear items- like a blazer & Levi’s-but Lucy has done it with perfection!  I admire that every time I see her she exudes her own personal style, which is a rarity let me tell y’all!  The way she fearlessly mixes colors & prints, from the pink in her belt to the yellow stripes of her tee, her ensemble is a unique take at a girl’s night out look.

Aisha & Bernadette

Who: Aisha & Bernadette

Where: At the Hex & the City young professionals networking event at Old Car Heaven

Why: Both Southern Femmes are wearing shades of the color of the season, purple!  Aisha, one of the hosts of this ‘fashionista’ event, has paired a structured Sgt. Pepper inspired vest over her girly dress made complete with her on trend lace textured tights.  Bernadette looks fabulous with her use of statement accessories…from her to die for over the knee leather boots to her heavy metal belt that cinches perfectly at the waist, she knows how to accent her artistic floral two tone dress.

Chenoia & Ryan

Who: Chenoia Bryant & Ryan Christopher

Where: Attending the Hex & the City event at Old Car Heaven

What: I noticed Chenoia not only for her amazing ensemble but for her striking red lipstick that I was sporting as well!  Her very ‘London chic’ look consists of her embellished structured jacket by LaRok, acid wash jeans from Urban Outfitters & again it is all about the statement accessories & Chenoia has it covered!  J’adore her Miu Miu gray ostrich bag, her Toy watch, her Pelle Moda heels & for a pop of color a luxurious coral Pashmina!

Ryan, another host of this chic event, is also decked out in one of the most important items this fall-the scarf!  He complements his gray scarf with a long sleeve Shades of Gray shirt, crimson Zara pants, Gucci sunglasses & royal red Yves Saint Laurent sneakers.

Who: Lillian, a Birmingham-Southern College student & model for the Linly Heflin Fashion Show

What: Lillian is wearing a fabulous floral print black Kimchi Blue romper from Urban Outfitters.  She’s added the perfect accessories- a lavender boyfriend cardigan, shoulder grazing earrings, a slouchy leather bag & woven wedges.

Where: Yesterday was the Linly Heflin Fashion Show at the Sheraton Ballroom in downtown Birmingham with clothes provided by Gus Mayer & the Atlanta based designer, Diana Inman of Dianaira.  Lillian was one of the 20 models I assisted in styling & fitting for the show.  More pictures & stories to come later from the actual show, but what a success 1,000 people attended!

Why: There’s nothing better than an adorable yet slightly sultry romper I have to say.  I’m pretty obsessed with my own bubblegum pink one shoulder TopShop romper that I’ve worn with stilettos & a sequin cardigan, with my Frye boots, with gladiator flats….the list goes on they can be a surprisingly versatile piece in your own wardrobe!

Angela at Art Walk

Who: Angelia- Owner of Poochie’s Closet , a fabulous vintage clothing company!

Where: Birmingham celebrates the beginning of fall with one of my favorite events-Art Walk!  Artists, musicians & other creative types gather downtown selling & displaying their talents in the gorgeous historic buildings that were once full of department stores, restaurants, drug stores & more!  Slowly but surely downtown is becoming revitalized with restaurants like Urban Standard, venues like Rogue Tavern, markets like Gypsy Market & boutiques like Charm on Second

What:  Angelia literally stopped me in my tracks amidst the hoards of people at Art Walk with her fabulous, shimmering 1980’s sequin top!  She paired the statement piece with her United Colors of Benetton dark washed skinny leg jeans & her men’s vintage cowboy boots with eagles decorating the sides.  Her earrings are perfect too to appropriately reflect & complement the butterfly sequin top.

Why: As I’ve said in my earlier post on sequins right now it’s all about making a statement whether it be through an oversized necklace or earrings, an adorned ballet flat or platform heel or like Angelia a fabulous vintage sequin top!

Who: Brenda

Where: Every Saturday from mid-May to mid-October, the streets surrounding Pepper Place in downtown Birmingham close to accommodate local farmers, cafes & artisans all selling their goods.  Perusing through everything from the gorgeous sunflowers & peppers from Jones Valley Urban Farm to the folk art by She-She to enjoying a delicious breakfast burrito from Homewood Gourmet’s stand, life could not be better.  After buying a basket of fresh, local peaches & an ornate wind chime made of an antique tea pot, salt shaker, ice cream scooper & napkin ring my best friend & I made our way to Cantina to hydrate ourselves with some invigorating jasmine tea.  As we gulped down our tea while basking under the summer southern sun we spotted the most fabulous ethereal looking woman.

What: Wearing a long flowing dress in shades ranging from icy blue to grassy green, Brenda looked like summer perfection!  It was a superb choice in dress for a hot southern lazy day.  She paired her ombre dress with casual sandals & a stunning necklace made from an old watch face that she purchased at one of my favorite events, Magic City Art Connection that happens every April!
