Central Park, New York City Farmland in Sardis, Alabama
My southern roots are stronger than I ever fully grasped, so powerful that they’ve taken me back to the Heart of Dixie. The land of southern hospitality, down home country cookin’, rolling farmland & cascading mountains & most importantly my family & friends. New York City was an amazing experience full of fast paced city & fashion adventures but when it comes down to it I’ll always be a southern femme. But the fashion will continue despite my move because everyone knows a southern girl always wants to look & dress her best!
My last weekend in NYC was a dramatic change from my first weekend back in Alabama: big city partying & shopping to my friend’s farmhouse in south Alabama. I’d like to share these monumental moments with y’all….from running into celebrities & parties at MOMA to good friends & farmhouses!
My last weekend in NYC was made complete with my best friend Blake arriving to help me go out with a bang! We were lucky enough to attend the ‘Cezanne to Picasso’ opening party at MOMA where we mingled in the gardens before admiring the phenomenal works of Cezanne, Picasso, Rothko, Pollock & more!
I wore a beaded caftan from Intermix over a royal blue vintage slip, paired with my Chloe heels & vintage Celine bag.
Blake looked quite dapper in his vintage Dior blazer, American Apparel vibrant blue t-shirt, plaid shorts & his NYC purchase-a floral Billy Reid pocket square.
A last weekend in NYC would not be complete without a few celebrity sightings! And who better to see than Gossip Girl star, Penn Badgley aka Dan Humphrey! Walking through Gramercy Park wearing an off white v-neck tee, navy shorts & Toms shoes he was looking much better than his character Dan I have to say!
My time in NYC was made complete when I had the opportunity to meet the phenomenal stylist, Rebecca Weinberg on my last day in NYC! She is a good friend of my former boss Paul Pelssers not to mention the Costume Designer of my favorite TV show “Sex and the City”! She & her precious dog posed for a picture on 5th Ave looking oh so fabulous in her sunflower yellow rounded sunglasses!
Instead of a final dinner à la Sex and the City (episode where Carrie is leaving NYC to move to Paris), my friends threw me a farewell picnic in Central Park! It was the most magical day in NYC full of wonderful friends, beautiful scenery & great southern food like tomato pie, biscuits, fried chicken & even sweet tea flavored vodka drinks!
SWEET HOME ALABAMA
For my first weekend back in Alabama my friends & I loaded up the car & headed further south to my friend’s farmhouse in Sardis, Alabama. It was an ideal southern weekend full of good friends, comfort food, swimming holes & huge front porches perfect for watching the sunset over the rolling soybean & cotton fields.
(side note: we did not stay at Mary’s house pictured above; it is actually a historic home that is being rebuilt by a man in Sardis)

The shorts are Billy Reid, too. Of course, Nannan was pleased (even with my floral tea napkin used only with chintzware–haha!).
Excellent site, keep up the good work
